President Unió Valenciana (UV), Vicente Gonzalez Lizondo , had several historic opportunities to enhance Valenciano. In 1991 could have become mayor of Valencia, but instead chose to give him the popular mayor Rita Barbera .

In 1995, after the defeat of socialist Joan Lerma in the elections autonomic, Lizondo could have become president of the Generalitat Valenciana in coalition with the Partido Popular (PP) Eduardo Zaplana but chose to give him the presidency to Murcia.

Lizondo Zaplana could have demanded the formalization of Valencia (Standards of El Puig) and the elimination of Catalan schools, media and administration, could have demanded the Ministry of Culture, Education and Sport for valencianizar our Kingdom.

Instead they settled for the presidency of the Parliament, and two minor Departments (Agriculture and Environment). Lizondo failed and his campaign promise to eradicate Catalan schools and betrayed the voters. Without doubt, a historical mistake that should never be repeated.
