Normally in football is that strikers are those that mark so many. That is, in fact, its function. What is much more uncommon is that midfielders are the big sign scoring records. One of these cracks in the midfield is Valencian Ferran Gómez (Valencia capital, 1965), Valencia CF midfielder history. This is the most capped midfielder drilled the opposing goal in the first division of the English league with a total of 108 targets. Rivaldo followed (107 goals), Fernando Hierro (105), Luis Enrique (102) and Julen Guerrero (101).
Gomez, nicknamed the Professor , for his great intelligence and vision, played 14 seasons (1984-98) in Valencia. A touch of quality and eye for goal sparked the interest of Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Sampdoria. The midfielder turned down tempting offers to stay in his beloved team. He also played in another historic club in Valencia, Castellón CD (1999-2000).
